Welcome to the 2011-2012 School Year!

Marquette Area Public Schools is a great choice for your child! Teachers and principals have been planning beginning year activities and custodians have been preparing buildings for the first day of school. All of this leads to a wonderful atmosphere in which students will learn and grow for a bright and exciting future!

Over the summer, there have been meetings to discuss the district's physical footprint. As enrollment declines, buildings age, and the cost of doing business increases, it is our responsibility to take a closer look at district facilities to evaluate efficiencies and effectiveness for student learning. At the same time, the district is compelled to build strength in it's technological capacity to engage and prepare students. This is all part of the district's plan for 21st Century learners in a 21st Century environment.

This month, look for announcements regarding public meetings where information will be shared about making Marquette Area Public Schools a more streamlined organization.

I am truly pleased and proud to be the Superintendent of Marquette Area Public Schools. I envision great things happening for students, staff and the community as the result of hard work and dedication to the mission of our district. Best wishes for a wonderful school year!
