About Marquette

Marquette village was founded in 1849, orginally called Worcester, but sometimes known as Iron Bay.  In 1859, the name was changed to Marquette in honor of the famous missionary Father Marquette.

Marquette Area Public Schools have Cherry Creek, Sandy Knoll, Superior Hills and Vandenboom Elementary Schools; Graveraet Intermediate; Bothwell Middle and Marquette Senior High Schools located in the greater Marquette city area.

Grades 9-12 
   Go to Marquette Senior High School, or the Alternative High School.

Grades 6-8 
   Go to Bothwell Middle School.

 

Grades 4-5 
   Go to Graveraet Intermediate School.

Grades K-3 
   Go to one of four schools:

      Cherry Creek Elementary School - covers most of the southern areas outside of the City Limits

      Sandy Knoll Elementary School - covers most of the northern part of the City, and surrounding areas.

      Superior Hills Elementary School - covers most of the southern part of the City, and surrounding areas.

      Vandenboom Elementary School - covers most of the western part of the City, and surrounding areas.

          Note: Jumpstart Kindergarten classes are available at Sandy Knoll and Superior Hills.
