Negotiations continue in attempts to resolve two expired MAPS labor contracts. On June 21 Administrators and MESPA I negotiators, representing custodians, food service and transportation personnel, will meet for the 13th time.  This will be the 7th session with a state mediator present. The District's other expired contract (MESPA II, representing secretaries, aides and clerks) must also be settled, though no new discussions have been scheduled.

The District recently received good news from the Marquette Area Education Association (MAEA). Responding to MAPS' December 2009 request to commence bargaining, tentative bargaining dates have been sent to the administration. Scheduling of these sessions for July is underway.

Contract negotiations to reach agreement on a 2010-2011 contract with MABA, the building administrator's labor group, have not yet begun.
