Throughout the most recent three school years, Marquette Area Public Schools’ total expenditures have exceeded revenues. For 2009-2010, budgeted expenditures of $28,870,672 are likely to exceed revenues by over 1.4 million dollars. The district’s per-pupil General Fund Balance has decreased from $2,844 in 2003-2004 to a projected low of $1,014 in 2009-2010. Like many other Michigan public schools, well over three-quarters of our expenses are associated with personnel.
