PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on June 27, 2022, at 5:30 o'clock p.m., at the Marquette Senior High School Library/SRC, Marquette, Michigan, the Marquette Area Public Schools Board of Education will hold a public hearing to consider the District’s proposed 2022-2023 budget. The Board may not adopt its proposed 2022-2023 budget until after a public hearing. A copy of the proposed 2022-2023 budget, including the proposed property tax millage rate, is available for public inspection during normal business hours at 1201 West Fair Avenue, Marquette, Michigan. The property tax millage rate proposed to be levied to support the proposed budget will be a subject of this hearing. This notice is given by order of the Board of Education. School Board elections take place on even-year November general election dates. Candidates who plan to run for their local school board at the November 2022 election must file an Affidavit of Identity and either a nonpartisan nominating petition or a nonrefundable fee with the Marquette County Clerk’s Office by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. Failure to file an Affidavit of Identity and the petition or fee by this deadline will bar the candidate from appearing on the ballot. Marquette Area Public Schools will have two open six-year seats. As many of you well know, weather in the UP can be unpredictable. This past school year we had substantial accumulations of snow in January and February and freezing rain, ice, sleet and snow in the end of March. For the safety of students, staff and families, we canceled eight full days of instruction. We just received confirmation from the Michigan Department of Education that MAPS can end the year as scheduled on Thursday, June 9th...

Beginning April 12, 2022, in the event that circumstances allow for adequate notice, in lieu of a traditional school closure MAPS will be considering the option of distance learning...

Marquette Area Public Schools announces School of Choice openings for non-residents in grades K-12 for the 1st semester of the 2022-2023 school year. Application forms may be obtained at any MAPS school building, at the Superintendent's office, or downloaded from the MAPS website. Completed application forms will be accepted through Friday, September 9, 2022. The district will make every effort to accommodate building preference at the elementary level, but retains the right to make the final building selection for student placement. The enrollment deadline for students accepted under the School of Choice program is Friday, September 9, 2022. Students must reside within the Marquette-Alger RESA to be eligible for School of Choice at MAPS.

MAPS is excited to announce the use of Here Comes the Bus (HCTB)! HCTB is a mobile app and website that delivers real-time school bus arrival and departure notifications to parents via mobile push and email notifications. Notifications are sent when the bus is nearby, practically eliminating the wait times at the bus stop. No standing outside for extended periods of time in inclement weather. In addition, with the new scanning feature, it will also tell you (and us), when/where your student scans on/off the bus. Parents have peace of mind knowing their student is safe and will get on the right bus, at the right stop, at the right time. HCTB is trusted by more than 2 million registered users...

The Marquette Area Public Schools announces the sponsorship of the Summer Food Service Program for children. Free meals are available to children 18 years of age and under or persons up to age 26 who are enrolled in an educational program for the mentally or physically disabled that is recognized by a State or local public educational agency. The meals will be provided without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, or disability, and there will be no discrimination during meal service. Meals are being provided at the site(s) listed below beginning June 13th, 2022 and concluding August 17th: Congregate Meal Service (Children must eat on site) Marquette Senior High School, 1201 W. Fair Avenue Breakfast 8:00 – 9:00, Lunch 11:30-12:30
