Congrats to the Student of the Week for April 14th-18th: Carter Williams! Carter was selected by Mr. Servia! #mshsstudentoftheweek #WeAreMarquette #LeaveYourMarq

Last week, Mrs. Swanson's class at Sandy Knoll presented the SEL skits that the students wrote. The skits consisted of topics that included spinning worry, courage, frustration, and flexible thinking. If you made it to our SEL night you may have had the pleasure to see them for yourself! They were too good not to share with all the students at SK. Way to go 5th graders!

Big congratulations to Mr. Fitzpatrick!
This weekend, he was honored with the Michigan Historical Society Teacher of the Year Award for his outstanding work with the Michigan History Day program!
Mr. Fitzpatrick pours his heart into this project every year—going above and beyond to support our students and ensure the contest we host runs without a hitch. We’re so proud of his dedication and the way he brings history to life at our school.
Way to go, Mr. Fitz!

April 22nd is School Bus Driver Appreciation Day! Thank you to our bus drivers for all you do!

Check out the MAHS Photography Class and the results of their recent assignment: COLOR My World!

Last Friday Miss Waara’s second graders hosted the first annual “Milk & Bookies” event in their classroom! Students set up the classroom and their families were invited to celebrate their writing success so far this school year. Of course, milk and cookies were served! 🍪🥛Students shared 2-3 published pieces of writing on a variety of topics and really enjoyed the time with their families. A big thank you to all who came… your support is so important! ❤️

Welcome to Williamsburg! Today in Social Studies, the fifth graders at Superior Hills had a “living through history” simulation activity to experience life in the 1700’s. Each student visited six different stations to learn about historic Colonial Williamsburg. Some students even dressed the part. ❤️

When you have the best boss and principal around! Lunch for staff today! 💙💙💙 Thank you, Andrew 🙌🏼

If you didn’t know MSHS had the best science teachers, now you know! Mr. Atwood & Mr. Thomas presented with Dr. Mojtaba Akhavan-Tafti to our community! Stop in and ask them about the cool research they are doing with our students! 🥼🔭🔬🧬

Check out our MAPS Support Staff Person of the Year - Pam Cornock & MAPS 6-12 Teacher of the Year - Kris O’Connor! We are so proud to have them at MSHS!

Our Artists in Excellence trip to Detroit was a huge success! Mr. Fether & our students toured a lot of art museums and public art sites large and small, met a few professional artists, tried new foods, toured the College for Creative Studies, rode the QLIne to downtown, and more. Students bonded and had some amazing conversations about art and life while getting an amazing big-city experience.

The 5th grade classes had the privilege of meeting and hearing an incredible presentation from Jeff Veley today! He is a speaker who travels the globe empowering kids. Jeff uses a two step “Peace Sign Approach” to help students learn how to face mean behavior and respond in ways to resolve relational conflicts. He was fun and entertaining with his discussion, magic tricks and songs- each holding a powerful message. Special thanks to Rorie for helping with the acting part of the presentation! ☮️

We will miss our favorite Police Liaison as he moves on to new adventures!

Lego Club session 2 is a wrap!

TEST - April 2, 2025
This message is a test as part of a safety drill conducted in MAPS’ buildings today. Again, this is only a test.
The MSHS administration would like to reestablish an MSHS Parent-Teacher/Staff-Student-Alumni Organization.
This organization's goal will be to enhance support for MSHS students and staff by strengthening connections with the Marquette and alumni communities. The committee will spearhead school and community events, provide valuable resources, offer classroom grants, organize appreciation luncheons and surprises, fund special projects, and much more!
The commitment would be a minimum of one meeting a month. The feedback from the survey below will set the times/dates. The first meeting will be in May 2025 to plan for the 2025-2026 school year.
If you are willing to join this group and support our MSHS students and staff, please complete the following survey by Friday, April 25, 2025: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfCjRKH0sIDGiCgRgJAHA8IwdnfysniPRlL8V1rhIFgp2eppA/viewform
Marquette Area Public Schools will be closed on Monday, March 31, 2025, due to hazardous road conditions and inclement weather predicted through tomorrow morning. There will be no school for students.
We wrapped up our “Reading March Madness” with an all school assembly today! The students have all loved reading each of the books (hand picked by our very own Miss Juday) throughout the month and voted by class throughout each bracket. They were all so excited when the winner “The Bakery Dragon” by Devin Elle Kurtz was announced and then read aloud to all of us by Mrs. Anderson! What a wonderful way to end our month long competition! Thank you to Miss Juday for all of her hard work on this very special project! 📚💙🐾

The elementary combined choir was a hit at the Spotlight on the Arts tonight! Congrats to all of the awesome fourth and fifth graders who participated from Sandy Knoll, Superior Hills, Cherry Creek, and Graveraet! A great job and thank you to the kids who volunteered and the families that supported the event.

Congrats to the Student of the Week for March 17-21: Jameson Bishop! Jameson was selected by our Industrial Ed Department! #mshsstudentoftheweek #WeAreMarquette #LeaveYourMarq
